With August all most at an end, we turn towards Africa to see us through the Autumn, with those final sips of summer. Returning to Ethiopia for the second time this year, we welcome a delicious White Wine Processed coffee from the Guji Hambela Washing Station.
This coffee uses a very unique processing method to create mid blowing flavours in the cup.The wine process is so-called because the techniques involved have been borrowed from the wine industry, though similar techniques can be found in many products derived from controlled fermentation. In essence, coffee cherries are fermented in sealed, oxygen deprived, stainless steel tanks with careful monitoring of temperature.
This process creates a truly unique cup of coffee. Expect to taste a big floral hit of Lavender on the first sip, followed by bright and juicy Elderberry, with a light caramel sweetness on the finish.
Ethiopia is unrivalled, and this coffee is a great example of why.
