Hailing from the lush slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda, coffee grows among misty hills, fertile volcanic soil, and cool mountain air.

Here, at elevations approaching 2,000 meters, coffee cherries ripen slowly under the tropical sun, developing the vibrant fruit character that defines coffees from this remarkable region.

This lot is the work of Norman Mukuru and his team at The Coffee Yard, a central hub for receiving and drying coffee from the districts of Sironko, Mbale, Bulambuli, and Kapchorwa. Norman brings nearly 20 years of experience and has specialized in naturals since 2018, refining his methods to achieve nuanced cup profiles. Quality is overseen by Maria Kirya, whose expertise in blind cupping ensures consistency and customer satisfaction.

In the cup expect a lively and sweet Sour Cherry flavour which is balanced by a creamy nougat note along with a deep comforting cocoa richness. This is a vibrant and sweet coffee that predominantly shines on filter but also makes a cracking espresso.
