This is a long awaited summer treat.

Arriving beside a rare spot of sunshine, we present Summer Fruit from Rwanda. Specifically the Aba Sholi womens cooperative. We had the pleasure of meeting Aimable Nshimiye last year who is the current managing director of the group and was visiting Scotland to build relationships with coffee roasters. After learning all about how the cooperative  was founded and is still majority run by women from the local area we tasted the coffee they produced and jumped at the chance to get a hold of some of their fully washed coffee.

Utilising a washed process for this bourbon varietal it's fruit characteristics jumped off the table. We have been missing a classic Rwanda like this for some time. Full of orchard fruits like peach, pear and apple, with mixed raspberry and strawberry vibes it makes us feel like we are drinking a cup of hot squash*.

*Squash is the Scottish word for diluting juice.

This is designed to work as both a filter and espresso. For filter we recommend using your usual recipe and if needed grinding a touch coarser.
For espresso this will benefit from a heavier out weight or a longer extraction time.
